Metzger Bar & Butchery
www.metzgerbarandbutchery.com
The four partners knew each other from previous pursuits and teamed up to open Metzger Bar & Butchery in 2014 in the Union Hill neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia. The concept was an homage to the neighborhood’s history as home to the city’s butchers, tanners and German immigrant population. In the early days Metzger sold retail meats, cheeses and wine in the day and turned into a bar and restaurant at night. The meat counter never really took off but the restaurant was an instant hit offering delicious new takes on European fare, classic German beers, innovative cocktails and Central European wines to the Richmond culinary scene.
